The only time a security agent was very unfriendly to me was TSA @BOS - barking at me to take my dSLR camera + lenses and charger out of my bag.

Different airports have different rules - but most of them put up posters and notices defining what are the requirements at that particular airport. There wasn't anything of that kind, so all I took out of my hand luggage to put in a separate tray was my laptop. In CDG, for example, they tell you to take your cameras and chargers out of the bag. In the UK [LHR/BHX], that's not needed.
