Two stays this last weekend, one at Embassy Suites in Santa Clara, and the Doubletree Sonoma in California. $3.00 energy surcharge at both hotels and a $0.33 tax on the surcharge.

EPS - I would imagine that $3.00 a day doesn't cover the increased utility rates for their price costs increase in California. My home utilities increased $3.00/day in December and with subsequent conservation measures by $1.50 day to run a minimally energy-using household. A hotel running restaurants, conferences, a large heating and cooling system, and pool must be accumulating astronomical costs. We have had a greater than 300% increase in utility rates in the past two months in California.
