From reading the thread about ZRH airport I can see that it will depend on the airport on whether the pushchair can be taken to the gate or needs to be checked in but I could not get a view on the collaspibilty, weight etc limits.
Can Someone let me know the following:
1. does it need to be collaspable - what happens if seperate bassinet?
2. Is there a weight limit?
Hi
Clady,
I would say to get the most lightweight and compact one that you feel you can that meets your needs. You can, be all means bring one which has a separate frame/wheels and bassinet, if that is the case, they will need to be separated and the bassinet part will be wrapped in plastic and checked into the hold along with the frame. If it is more like a one where the bassinet is more along the lines of a car seat, instead of a full bassinet, then you may be able to bring the car seat part onto the aircraft with you for use during the flight, subject to rules regarding Take Off/Landing/Turbulence etc...
We will always do our best to accommodate push chairs and the likes onboard, as when they are checked, you will not see them again till baggage reclaim at LHR or your destination. As for the comments about ZRH Airport, I think this was more towards the extreme, and the vast majority of airports will allow you to continue to the gate with the push chair. The only thing that I would say, is to not get too distracted in the shops and turn up at the gate last minute, as there is always a chance that if your push chair is sent down to the hold too late due to late arrival at the gate, that it may not be loaded at all.
As for allowances, weight wise, as long as it is not made from gold bullion, or lead, then it should be fine, but again, not advisable to bring the biggest 4X4 off road-ing all singing all dancing one around, you will probably find it more hassle than it is worth.
Hope you have a good trip.
