Yes, but since we're talking about $50 v. $150 (as opposed to $700 v. $800), and $100 is sufficient to provide for a decent amount of fun in either city (or at least a nicer hotel room), I'm a firm believer in cheap fares. On the other hand, if you happen to catch a busy season when fares are expensive, and the fare differential is closer to $40, C is worth the extra coin IMO.
Yes, class of travel is very much a personal choice (and affordability). Both are good and correct in the same way as 2-star vs. 3-star vs. 4-star vs. 5-star hotels. They attract different clients. I'd like to clarify that I meant one class upgrade from economy. So it's C on 3 class or F on 2class.
