I am planning to stay for around 12 nights:

3 nights in bangkok
4 nights in Chiang Mai
5 nights in Phuket

it is part of my Honeymoon and i will be travelling in end of Jan 2010. I chose Thailand because my fiance has an Indian passport and Thailand offers visa free access for 14 days.

I am in the planning stage, I was originally thinking IC BKK for 4 nights and then Le Meridien in Phuket for 7 nights but i spoke to a friend and he told me that it would be a travesty if i did not go to Chiang Mai. So my plans changed again, and while investigating, i stumbled upon Amari hotels. I investigated on trip advisor and then tried to get some opinions on FT.

I have moved back towards the International brands because it is my honeymoon and i feel more comfortable booking with them on my first trip to Thailand. Maybe future trips will include, local (as in Thai) brands.

Moving on, can anyone suggest a reasonable itinerary with what to do for 12 nights (bearing in mind, it will be me and the wife, no kids). Phuket is easy enough, 5 nights of drinking and relaxing but I stumped on chiang Mai as i have not thought about it.
