Remember that if you deliberately skip the last flight, you are deliberately breaking the terms you agreed to when you booked the fare.

If you do "skip" the last segment, be sure not to make a habit out of it, because UA technically could come after you for the fare difference, lock your M+ account, and confiscate your miles.
