Intercontinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very good
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Bed Standard. Received King Bed Exec on 14th floor
How are the rooms?
Reasonable size (551 sq foot per IHG) and nicely furnished. Small but well appointed bathroom. Seating area with sofa and couple of chairs, coffee table, TV and bedroom area with second TV. TVs were old-style CRT
How is the exec. lounge?
Not offered; although check-in took place there
What was good and what was bad?
Excellent check-in; I arrived at 11am and they insisted on trying to find a room (I really didn't want to check into one room then move), despite the fact the hotel was full the night before. The doorbell wasn't working properly and this was resolved within minutes.
Room was very nice but nowhere near as big as the new IC SF.
Gift (Ghiradelli chocolates) didn't arrive until 7pm
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
On my last visit to SF, I stayed in the new IC and was hoping to do so again. However, I couldn't say no to a rate of $99 at the Mark Hopkins and was pleasantly surprised given the negativity on this forum about the hotel (I stayed here a few years ago, but before I was RA). I prefer newer properties (and not having to walk up the hill from Union Square), so would stay at the new IC out of preference, but this was a very good stay.
