Ushuaia/Patagonia in the Winter?

I'm making my second trip down to Argentina in July. Last trip I spent only in Buenos Aires.

This time I'm going to have a longer visit and will also head over to Chile. However, I'm very interested in going south...way south.

I see that there are still daily flights to Punta Arenas and Ushuaia. Some seem to allow a trip to arrive in the a.m. and depart later in the day. Or, alternatively, a couple of days.

I don't mind the cold - i tend to travel in cold seasons and I also ski frequently. Would it be completely crazy to do a visit down south in July?
