Very close by are a couple of great restaurants: Bimini Boat Yard - May be known more for the view (of the water and the people)than the food. Mezzaluna - Great Italian place (pricey!).
I don't know about the BBY, but I live about 1.5 miles from the Embassy Suites and Bistro Mezzaluna.
I haven't eaten there (the menu is posted and it is pricey as stated before) - friends who have been there say it's good to excellent but uneven (worrisome at those prices).
I often pick up take-out Chinese from the place next door to Mezzaluna, and it always fascinates me to see valet parking in a small, very average strip mall-let. But oh what cars! It seems like every Mercedes S600 V12 and 500SL, BMW 750IL, Rolls Seraph and Cornice in town meet here every night (mere Lexi, Jag Vanden Plassi are relegated to the sides). Last time I picked up my $9.75 order, I had the distinction of parking next to an Aston Martin (don't remember if it was a Volante, DB7 or what, but I ws VERY careful with my doors

Makes one wonder .....
For more down to earth pocketbooks, there's an Outback a block west, a pub and steakhouse across 17th street (never been to either) and a couple of blocks away (behind the Winn-Dixie supermarket) is a neighborhood-type bar/restaurant called the Quarterdeck - good seafood, wings and sandwiches at good prices, and 5 longnecks for $5 beer specials on some nights.
Last, if you want sushi/sashimi, don't go to the place right on 17th across from the hotel - instead, venture east about 2 blocks on 17th street to Tokyo Sushi (in a tiny 4-storefront center facing 17th) just past the Publix supermarket - much better quality fish than at the other place, much nicer service (the owner has a second sushi place right on Las Olas but this one is much more calm without the chi-chi attitude).
Good luck and enjoy!!
