It's a nice property once you get past the horrific exterior yellow paint job. I haven't stayed there personally, but my former company had a corporate rate there, so many of my colleagues from other offices stayed there when in town. They all were very happy with the rooms, breakfast, etc. I don't know if you will get any benefit from being Gold VIP. You may just want to call them and ask.

As far as the location, the bridge to the beach is still under construction (its been that way for 2 years), so expect some delays. The location is a busy main road that connects US 1 and the beach, so traffic is heavy. It is convenient to Las Olas and some of the other main Ft. Lauderdale shopping and restaurant areas. It's also very convenient to I-595 which takes you to I-95 (and Miami), Sawgrass Mills and the Everglades.

Very close by are a couple of great restaurants: Bimini Boat Yard - May be known more for the view (of the water and the people)than the food. Mezzaluna - Great Italian place (pricey!).
