Without going too OT, I'll willingly fly AC, but of my last 4 longhaul UK-CAN-UK flights, no IFE on 3 of them due to broken systems, dirty planes, broken seats etc. Last flight was a good 18 months ago though, so it may well have improved a bit since then. Crew (as with bmi l/h) were consistently good though.
....and *A from Australia transpacific, OP could have chosen UA on a 744 with no seatback IFE whatsoever, instead of AC.
