My advice for avoiding high parking charges is to rent a hybrid vehicle. Last Aug when I staying at the Fairmont Banff Springs and the Fairmont Lake louise, We paid $40-$50 more and rented a hybrid Camry and avoided 7 nights of paid valet parking at the hotels. Worth looking into to see if they still offer this. Also, I did not book the hybrid online, I bargained at the rental counter.
