Actually if NASA's program was run like the airlines, the astronauts would do very poorly. To wit, an airline gives you miles based on the distance between the departing airport and the arriving airport. For astronauts, in many cases this is the same "airport" (KSC). After a week in space all they would get is credit for one "segment" and zero miles.
