Both I and U tickets can be changed free of charge. Be careful with peak travel period as the availabilities for U/I may not be good.
Is there any way that I can pay with HK$, just trying to avoid the poor bank exchange rate and also potential international transaction fees

Also, how great will the chance be for refunding the last HKG-TPE sector after I finished the JFK-HKG sector? (the I ticket but not the U, of course)
Do the I fare allow refunding after the trip started? If yes, how much that sector will worth after the $1200 cancellation fee?
