Actually, you don't have to be Starwood Gold for this to work - it works at all levels. I've done it several times at Starwood properties here in the Boston area. You present your Starwood card along with your credit card when making payment ($10 +) and you get 2 starpoints for every $ spent. It can be a pain sometimes when you run into staff who are not familiar with the rules, and sometimes you have to follow-up with CSR to make sure the points get posted. I suspect Hilton and others will soon follow if enough of us speak about it.
