To the OP, I like the shade open. Why? Because I read. Daylight is the best light for one's eyes when reading and far surpasses the weak lightbulbs at each seat. If some want to watch the movie, I compromise by putting the window shade about half way down so I can get enough light with which to read.
I also love looking out the window.
Not sure why the OP is hostile toward those of us who like natural light. But guess what, the plane is for everybody. If people are willing to compromise, the flight will be more pleasant.
Ditto (with above edits).
I'm a polite traveler & in hope that it will be returned, respect the little personal space each flyer has, but I LOVE FLYING. For me, the exterior views are a big part of the whole flying experience: watching takeoffs & landings, stunning sunrises & sunsets, beautiful cloud formations & breathtaking earth scenes. What can compare to a lightening storm at 37,000ft? For me, G-rated movies and old TV shows can't compete with the porthole views...and when it's mainly blue sky or dark night, I read, sleep, listen to music. The latter to better block out unwelcome noise around me.
