I don't hate kids, and this isn't about kids. It's about the idea that a minority of passengers shouldn't bother a majority of passengers. If you agree about shades down, then you should agree about no kids. If you don't agree about no kids, then it doesn't make sense to object to shades up.

I'm just trying to see whether your positions are inconsistent in this regard.

As I said, I think this is a lot more about whose ox is getting gored than what constitutes courtesy while flying.
