To get your car rental bonus points, always insist on putting the appropriate 2-letter code (e.g., "NA" for National) in the "CR" field at check-in. Unfortunately, quite often you need to educate front desk personnel about those bonuses. In rather rare occasions when hotel's computer system is outdated and does not connect to HHonors ccomputers (e.g., Hilton Kansas City Airport), you may need to follow up with HHonors CS over the phone to get proper credit (including the bonuses), which is a hassle.
