They don't want to hurt your feelings.
Does anybody know how strict air canada are with the checked baggage size limit? Their web site specifies the maximum of length+width+height to be 158cm and many people said size really doesn't matter at the airport check-in counter.
My Baggages come to 185cm.
Will they pull me up on this and charge us excess baggage or am I worrying unneccessarily?

Overweight bags are far more likely to attract extra charges than being too large. I am yet to see a ckin agent take out a tape measure and check for size.
