They used to fly that route but it was cut after 9/11 (I believe)... Talking with the UA folks at SNA I don't think it will be back anytime soon either. Minus the direct flight to IAD it is just as easy to connect to the east coast via ORD (or at times DEN) and without any Redeyes the need for the IAD flight isn't that high.
