IC London Park Lane
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Extremely happy with stay.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a Claasic room at £219 including breakfast and was upgraded to a Deluxe Suite - room 288.
Original upgrade online 2 days prior to stay had been to an Executive room. The evening before arrival it showed as a Studio Suite and on check in we were told that we had been given an 'extra special upgrade'
Room was not ready on arrival at 10am - we were offered the temporary room but did not take it as we were going shopping - we received a call on our mobile at 12pm to say that the room was ready.
On arrival, the Guest Services Manager came out of the back office and introduced himself - this has never happened to us in this hotel before. He informed us that he was contactable 24 hours a day - should we require his services.
How are the rooms?
The room was massive. The suite had 3 sets of windows, and this made it very bright and airy. It had a large dining area with table and seating for 4 people, a guest bathroom, a living area with sofa/ chaise longue and working area with desk, a bedroom with sitting area, dressing/ make up area and 2 very large wardrobes. The bathroom was a good size with separate shower and bath and double sinks.
The bathroom was a bit strange because it had a door onto the corridor - I went into the corridor to have a look and the door had a 'Private' sign on it.
Welcome gift was the usual Duchy biscuits, some Comice Pears from Kent and water.
How is the exec. lounge?
Excellent. We went up for afternoon and this was very very nice. We had sandwiches, scones, cookies, cakes etc and the view was very nice. Evening drinks are from 6pm until 8pm, with champagne - Pommery I think, and premium spirits. You are also presented with a 'tasting plate' of seasonal produce from the Executive Chef. Again, this was very nice. I did not have breakfast in the lounge as I had this in the Cookbook Cafe on one morning and then in the room on another.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Absolutely everything! We had Sunday Brunch and this was fantastic value. The champagne glasses are kept topped up all day and the selection of food is very good. Excellent value at £39 per head.
No mini bar items were on the bill at checkout and they had even removed the £27 charge for unlimited movies, music, internet etc.
This is my second 'non standard' upgrade here - at Christmas we were given a Studio Suite.
Bad:
Nothing. Perfect weekend.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Superb value as I used a BOGO voucher. My bill on checkout was only £415, and this included my bill for Sunday Brunch and drinks in the bar! Have already booked for the next Bank Holiday.
