To add another data point: I'm 5'10". I find the AA Y to be fine. Not great, but definitely tolerable. In JL Y, my knees are completely up against the seat in front of me. If the person in front of me leans back, I'm basically rendered immobile. For a flight that long, I'd take AA Y even though JL has a better soft product. (Drinking doesn't make my legs feel any shorter unfortunately.)
