You are suppose to keep the window shades down on long haul flights for the central part of the flight to facilitate others to sleep/watch tv screens. For those who like to be 'lit up' the whole flight then they can use the overhead light. The cabin crew should insist on this. The person who is sitting at the window should not automatically have some divine right to control the lighting for an entire section of cabin. They should close the window. The windows are there for security too its not all about using them for 'sightseeing'. Picking a window seat does not guarantee you darkness because the person in front's window has just as big an impact on lighting as the one next to you. CLOSE WINDOWS. I agree with the poster.
