CX discount D/I fares are primarily used to compete with other airlines where CX is not as convenient. For example, there are usually good D/I fares for YYZ-JFK-HKG, JFK-HKG-TPE or JFK-HKG-MNL. You will not find them on straight JFK-HKG as CX is the most convenient carrier.@:-)
