Just ended a 2 night stay.
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Hugely.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?'
Booked a best flexible 'Double Bed Deluxe', was pre-upgraded to a city view suite. Dropped the hotel a mail following what I've read here and asked if they'd be prepared to swap to a non-suite harbour view with club access. Very fast reply in the affirmative, with club benefits/details attached. I saw I could get free use of the meeting room and asked about that and they booked it for me. All via e-mail, all virtually a 'live' convo. Very impressive ^
Actual room was a King Deluxe Harbour View with Club access.
How are the rooms?
After a very warm welcome at check-in and a (declined) offer to show me to my room, I found it was very nice indeed. A bit small perhaps in general but 'functionally compact'. TV is a bit old school but everything else was great. View was fantastic to wake up to, Ugo Vanelli toiletries in the bathroom and big comfy bed and massive comfy pillows. Minibar very well-stocked IMHO with 2 of everything including Absolut, Gordon's and Chivas alongside Carlsberg, Heineken and Tsing Tao plus heaps of soft drinks and even 2 bottles of chardonnay.
Welcome gift was a very sizeable box of chocolates - yummy they are/were too. Plus the some fresh cakes and the usual fruit and mineral water bottles placed all over the shop.
Wired and wireless internet is free (Club benefit)...and faster than the other IC's too.
How is the exec. lounge?
Stunning. Brilliant staff - very welcoming and attentive. Evening drinks 6pm to 8:30pm. Afternoon tea 2pm (IIRC) to 5pm. Breakfast (again IIRC) 7am to 11am.
In the evening, non-stop Veuve and there are also premium spirits galore. Great selection of snack foods and some different canapés both nights (first night, some delicious spicy tuna Carpaccio and another excellent lamb offering; second night was yummy sushi!). Afternoon tea is as you'd expect and very pleasant. Breakfast is an excellent buffet with a surprisingly large number of items to order too. I was stunned!
The nice ladies also let me sneak 11 printed pages instead of my allocated free 5
Checked out there and not a minibar or movie charge ever in sight.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Absolutely everything!
Bad:
Nothing. Not a single thing. If you want to be picky, I'd say the fact the rooms have IC pencils in not the nice chunky IC pens I like to nick
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Superb value. So much so I booked a stay for next month there and then (and asked at the Club about the similar RA upgrade deal and see it's now already been done online too). I'll be staying again every time I come back to HKG if I can.
This is, frankly, the best IC experience I've had in a long time (c.f. Barclay most recently which was just ‘decent’, CAI the week before had many negatives, Rome, Bahrain, Doha, Dallas, both Seouls, Frankfurt…none of them as good as this). This hotel has seriously improved from some of the old reports on here and thought the location isn't quite as convenient as the other IC, I actually now prefer it overall for the treatment vs. what the other one gives you (at a substantial mark-up too).
EDIT: One downside, for some reason it's posted as an ineligible stay with 0 points/miles.
