To the OP: Do you really need to go to Hawaii ?

I would skip Hawaii for sure on the way to Asia especially if you want to experience true F or C experience, as
1) from US to HNL, there is only domestic F serivce from UA or US
2) from HNL to asia, you must go thru NRT, as there are no star alliance go from HNL to asia nonstop, there are only UA and NH for HNL-NRT. NH only has C, most likely using 763 with old style seats, not very ideal in terms of legroom, recline and PTV, UA is probably better option as it is using int'l 777, but still old C and F seats.

If you end up have only one or two segment in F, others all in C, you are still going to get charged for F miles.
