That AA flight isn't until September. I seldom use my AMs for flights, though did once fly WestJet using an AM special offer. However, a few years ago I did use AMs for a trip on AC and recall getting AE miles for both the outbound and the return (YYZ-LGA-YYZ). I used my AE card on the kiosk and though it couldn't immediately locate the res, when I typed in the locator it came up and I completed the check-in. My AE number was shown on the boarding pass, and I assume it was on the res file since I got an opup on the return flight.
