official page for the promo indicate the promo is for triple
base MQMs.

Take a look at their chart for flying ATL-NRT on an M fare. The number under the "Total MQMs Earned" column is 20,550. That is exactly three times the actual flight miles (6,850); not miles + 150% bonus x triple MQMs.
