How about using AA miles for a One World award? I'm not sure if you can get from HKG to CPT on a OneWorld carrier without a circuitous routing, but you should be able to get from HKG to JNB, and from CPT to LHR on OneWorld. You might have to get yourself from JNB to CPT, but OneWorld awards permit one open jaw.
BA flies JNB/CPT several times each day.
