I think I figured out what I was trying to remember about inventory searches.
It was a local talk show host that made the argument that the ruling will change the admissibility of evidence found during an inventory search and/or limit the availability of inventory searches.
So it was opinion I had heard that for some reason stuck in my head as something I had read.
Long story short, never mind.
