No, Tassie would make a lot of sense. Keep your return international flight and venture down to Hobart - lovely drives, good restaurants, and you can probably find a cute B&B.

I just checked MEL-HBA flights for your dates and they are CHEAP: $100rtn all-in per passenger.

Your itinerary looks good; I don't think it's too long or too short in any of the cities. Reserve time for a day trip / perhaps a night away from Melbourne on the Great Ocean Rd.
