If you get to the airport early and see there are problems ay ORD, you might want to see if they can put you on AA36 the nonstop DFW-MAD flight at 17h30.

As such I'd make sure I was signed up for the Madrid miles promotion MAD09 -- you might as well get the extra 5k or 10k miles if you end up going that way.
