I recently travelled JFK-LHR by business and returned to ORD by First. I received the new red amenity kit on both legs. In the last 12 months I have travelled BA, Emirates, Etihad, SQ, Jet and CX in both classes and always received a substantially better amenity kit in First class. Most included sleeping suits as well.
Is this accidental awaiting new kits or a permanent feature?
AA's soft product between F and J isn't differentiated by much, and they've been using the same amenity kits (to save a few $ at the expense of people who spend several thousands more) for a while. I don't know of any other airline that does this either.
If you're flying F, and AAdvantage program miles isn't an issue, stick with the other airlines you've listed!!
