Hoping things work out and it goes smooth, but just in case, I want to be prepared in case of the worst.

I’m traveling to Madrid on Sunday from Dallas, making a connection to Iberia in Chicago. The flight from DFW leaves at 1pm, arrives about 3pm, and the Madrid flight leaves at 4:40pm from Chicago (last one).

Today I decided to check the departure from Dallas and it is delayed enough that if I were on it today, I would miss the connection (if that one left on time), don’t know the reason, but safe to assume weather related. Besides changing to an earlier flight, what other options are there? Can/or will AA put me on a later flight and route me through somewhere else to Madrid?
