I suppose they could have tried harder to get you adjacent seats but it depends on the load I guess.
I understand that there is a risk of being bumped, but given that the cabin was not otherwise busy, there is no excuse for leaving one of us sitting next to a baby. It is just poor customer service.

I had not flown BA F for over a year before this trip, but had taken many flights on the upper deck in J. I have to say that I preferred the experience in J. The outbound F flight was very strange. Horrible food choices for lunch and then the cabin crew shut all of the blinds and disappeared for almost 8 hours before afternoon tea. In J you can help yourself to snacks but there was nothing in the F galley (except for a lot of dirty plates). I know that the idea is that you can order whatever you want at any time, but in practice the crew just wanted us all to go to sleep. Not great on a day flight.
