I stayed at The Observatory a boutique hotel owned by Orient Express Hotels. It was better than any Shangrila hotels. The little touches made our stay enjoyable. The Bathroom is huge. Double sink far away from each other, Shower stall that is way bigger than normal even has a built in marble seat! For Australian weather? They even have heated towel racks.

Turn down service, similar to Shangrila's but added a nice touch of bottled water in a cloth pouch each side of the bed.

Closet is typical of the olden days of rail travel with lots of drawers and includes a tote bag and umbrella.

The swimming pool / spa is awesome!

Going for buffet breakfast is like entering the dining room of an exclusive cruise line. The personal service from the Maitre'D at the door to the service from the wait staff is remarkable.
