The way I read it, earlier connections are allowed without charge for anyone regardless of elite status. Remember this does not apply to passengers originating in a hub. It only applies when you get there from an originating city and want to change your connecting flight.
This is the way it was in the good old days of air travel. It benefits the carrier by moving out passengers and clearing seats on later flights that they just might sell. For passengers, it is a courtesy to get us to the destination earlier without hassle.
I believe what you meant to say is the SDC is not Fee Free for anything but connecting flights. Rather then 'passengers originating in a hub'. Since then someone may feel hey Im flying SNA-IAH-FLL now since SNA isnt a 'Hub' I can do SDC for a different flight out of SNA fee free.No Can Do, only SDC fee free for the IAH-FLL if they can catch an earlier flight either due to getting into IAH earlier then they should have or an earlier flight being delayed getting out of IAH for whatever reason
a Win-Win for both CO and the PX
