I was pleasantly surprised when I stayed in my first Hilton Garden Inn in Beaverton, OR last fall. Since then, I have also had good experiences at the ones in Detroit and Carlsbad, CA.

The price is pretty reasonable, comparable to a Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn. I had thought they would have minimal services, but each room has a microwave, refrigerator and two phones. Some have high-speed Internet access. There is a restaurant downstairs, and room service available. The decor is nice, better than I would have expected for the price.

Overall I think they are well-designed and a good value.
