When I get upset about the way DL is hosing us I've found it helpful to recall a great Clint Eastwood scene from Unforgiven:

Me: "I don't deserve this."

DL [gun to my head]: "Deserve's got nothing to do with it."
I'm thinking this has more to do with who is running the gate than who is flying the plane -- haven't we seen that these have been available from the NW operational bases in the US both TransAtl and TransPac, but only returning TransPac (where NW) is the running the check-in, etc. and not from Europe where KL or AF are running the checkins?
