Nick-- let me explain myself in more detail:
I have access to a corporate rate of XXX with Hilton. Now, with that corporate rate, due to my tier as HHonors I would be eligible for upgrade to a suite or exec. floor. Thats perfectly reasonable, and I dont expect to get both.
Now, on personal travel, I choose to pay a rate YYY (e.g. rate YYY=XXX+20%). That rate YYY gives me the right to upgrade to exec. floor (as advertised by Hilton). So then, after paying that higher rate, upon check in I present my Gold VIP card and request an upgrade to a Suite. I get "no" as an answer, cause Ive already got the exec. floor perks (I am asked to choose between a suite and the exec. floor, so I know for a fact that there are suites available).
So then, my question: does the higher rate I pay disqualify me for the perks I would normally get as a Gold VIP ???
PS: this is just one of the problems Ive had with HHonors
