I haven't read about so many fires in these airports
I personally don't like the food either- however it is all about choice for customers- and not everyone wants to spend 10GBP for a Weatherspoons burger either.
I am not a fire officer, I have no idea.
As was pointed out by someone else it is a decision made by the BAA, they have told stake holders briefly about the decision but airlines were not a part of that decision and so were not really given the full facts and statistics. I am sure though that the BAA would have taken advice from the professionals especially when it means turning down possible revenue.
