The value of their currency lost 15% last year right after I paid last year. I expect it will go down further. I already told my associates there to hedge against their own currency. I am going to wait till the last minute to book the APR.

Is that the F&F rate? I have never heard that APR cannot get PC points. I am not worrying about the points. I like my stay be counted towards RA renewal.

Renaissance Kowloon and IC HKG used to belong to the same guy. I used to be able to get good rates at Renaissance Kowloon. This hotel is not a full fledge Marriott. Even Platinum member cannot get upgrade or club access. I spent 44 days in this hotel within 18 months prior to signing up with PC. Still have 200k marriott points.
I have another question for all. I expect to earn a couple of free days with the PC latest promotion. How do I tag along some free days with a couple of paid days for a stay while not risking my room upgrade.
Book the paid stay first, then book the free bee afterwards. You can arrive at the hotel like normal, Check-in and ask for upgrade. The second day go to Front Office counter and tell them you have another reservation and you want to tie them up. If the hotel is not full they should appreciate your second reservation and will try to arrange upgrade and let you to stay the same room. But I would doubt it if you are staying in IC the Stanford HKG. Personally I would not email them in case they decide not to give a "grand" upgrade.
