It's not really GPS though, it does take cues from the aircraft GPS but as far as I know about the technology behind, the mapping side is just the image and overlay, not working out the plane's location independently on each display.
I didn't expect the displays were independently mapping, that WOULD be crazy
Numerous other folks had the map up and none were working, so it's obviously a crashed central service. Mostly annoying for the lack of a time remaining display - which I appreciate greatly!
