So every time you go to the loo, you pack up all your things and bring them with you? I usually close my computer and leave it in my bag with the power attached (if someone were to grab the bag, it would be awkward as they deal with the cord). The only things I don't let off my person are my passport and wallet.
Yes, I would pack up my stuff before going to the men's room, especially in any of the larger airports (ORD, LAX, DFW, any of the NY area airports). All it takes is one thief, and about 10 seconds to close and unplug my laptop and slip it into his own bag. No random person around the RCC is going to help - they don't know me, don't remember what I look like, and will assume that the thief is the rightful owner.
I know the ticket counter is not the same as the RCC, but my wife had her laptop stolen
from at her feet, while she was talking to a TA. Of course, no one saw anything...
