I have a reservation at the HI in Perugia next month and will be staying one night there before heading down to Rome for several days.
I will be arriving by train. How practical is it to actually get to this hotel from Perugia's train station? I understand both the station and the HI are located outside of downtown and that a car is necessary to reach the hotel. The hotel's webpage claims to have a free shuttle to the station. Can anyone verify this? Do they also provide service to downtown?
Having researched the hotel on TripAdvisor, it generally has a good reputation. The price (56EUR) is very good and I'd like to stay here. But if transportation is going to be too much of a hassle, I'd appreciate other ICHG recommendations in the Umbria/Emilia-Romagna area.
