Don't buy tickets from Rail Europe (high price). You can probably buy tickets when you arrive, even if it's right before train departure. The official schedules are at
www.trenitalia.it but they haven't been posted past June, and it's difficult to complete a booking there with a non-Italian credit card. Going from Rome, you would change at Falconara Marittima, before it gets to Ancona.
If you drive, the autostrada speed limit is 130 km/h unless marked, and cameras can catch speeders and get tickets to you much later.
