I'd say it mostly depends on what airlines and hotels you frequent (or would like to) and where you travel.

If you are a Southwest guy, especially if you can use a Companion Pass, I'd recommend you look hard at the Southwest Visa from Chase. I've saved a ton of money (pushing $3000) taking my son all over the country for free over the last 14 months.

$75K annual spending, for example, would put you more than halfway there. Rent a few cars, put some personal spending on there, and you have a Companion Pass.

For someone spending the amount you are discussing, annual card fees are negligible when deciding which card to use.
