Since you are going to be there in the September timeframe and include 'beer' as one of your interests, don't forget that Munich's Oktoberfest is from Sept 19 through Oct 4. Well worth experiencing if you've never been, but it makes hotel reservations in Munich very tight/expensive during those 2 weeks.
