That's right. I forgot that the OP would be exiting from the TBIT, not the UA terminal.

I think it's still faster to walk from TBIT to Terminal 1 than it is to take the shuttle, which will stop at terminals 5, 6, 7 & 8 (waiting for people to get on/off with their luggage) before looping back around to Terminal 1. By the time you find the correct shuttle stop and wait for the shuttle to arrive, you could be halfway to T-1 by walking it. It's not as fast as cutting across the parking lot from T-7 (the UA terminal), but if time is of the essence, I'd recommend walking.

When you exit customs, you'll be on the Arrivals level. Take the escalator up to Departures, make a left.....and start walking. I can't imagine it taking more than 10 minutes at a normal pace - probably only 5 if you walk briskly.
