Thanks for the ideas so far. I went ahead and booked ORD-GLA-ORD so keep the ideas coming!

Anybody have good tips for small local hotels that are close to city center? The conference hotel has a great rate but looks cold and impersonal, while most of the smaller places I'm seeing are outside of the city center.
